This 72-hour course will be held over 11 months. It will begin with 1 weekend retreat in Devon in January 24, and continue on 1 Saturday a month in Compton, Guildford until December 24.
The course is designed for committed students of yoga who wish to deepen their knowledge in all that yoga offers us, to develop a personal practice or, for those who may be interested in teaching yoga, as a stepping stone to becoming a teacher. Limited to a maximum of 8 students to ensure individual support and attention, the course is suitable for students with at least two years of yoga experience. If you have less experience and are interested in the course, please contact Christina Jones.
We will explore the authentic and influential tradition of Professor T Krishnamacharya and his son, TKV Desikachar. This unique approach integrates practical teachings about āsana ( movement and postures), prāṇāyāma ( breathing practices), use of sound and meditative techniques, along with the psychology and philosophy of Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtra-s (which are astoundingly relevant to the challenges of modern life) and other key yoga texts. This particular yoga tradition emphasises the importance of adapting yoga to the individual.
TSYP is the organisation in the UK which represents the teachings of this tradition. Professor T Krishnamacharya is known as the ‘father of modern yoga’ and his son, TKV Desikachar, is widely credited with bringing the teachings of yoga to the West.
